The Retroperitoneal Approach to the Abdominal Aorta

چکیده
Within the community of the vascular surgeons, it has always been a matter of debate which surgical approach is tolerated better by the patient undergoing a reconstruction of the abdominal aorta. When the first reconstructions were performed in 1951 an extraperitoneal approach was preferred. Oudot (1) performed the first aorto-bi-iliac graft for aorto-iliac occlusive disease. Dubost (2) was the first to replace an aneurysm of the abdominal aorta. Both of them used a retroperitoneal approach. However, in the following years, most surgeons turned to the midline transperitoneal and infracolic ap-

Treatment of abdominal aorta aneurysms
Background The best treatment of abdominal aorta aneurysms of the segments below the emergency of the renal arteries are still under discussion. In literature there are several studies that compare the retroperitoneal (R.P.) approach with the transperitoneal (T.P.) one or that suggest their possible variations. The R.P. approach offers the possibility of treating patients with hostyle abdomen (...
متن کاملCase Report: Circumaortic Left Renal Vein
Awareness of the variation and renal vascular abnormality at retroperitoneal space surgeries such as kidney surgery and transplantation is very important and necessary. Complexity in the veins development of the kidney area of fetus leads to a series of changes in the production of these veins, including the extra kidney vein, and the posterior aorta vein. In this case report, we present a case...
متن کاملA Fibromatosis Case Mimicking Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm
Retroperitoneal fibrosis is a rare fibrosing reactive process that may be confused with mesenteric fibromatosis. Abdominal aorta aneurysm is rare too and mostly develops secondary to Behcet's disease, trauma, and infection or connective tissue diseases. Incidence of aneurysms occurring as a result of atherosclerotic changes increases in postmenopausal period. Diagnosis can be established with a...
متن کاملVALUE OF FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION IN DIAGNOSING ABDOMINAL AND RETROPERITONEAL MASSES OF CHILDREN
The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of fine needle aspiration cytology in the diagnosis of abdominal and retroperitoneal masses in children on this study. In 53 cases of childhood abdominal and retroperitoneal masses within a 4 year period (1998- 2001) preoperative fine needle aspiration was done under the guide of CT scan. 2 pathologists reviewed fine needle aspiration smears. I...
متن کاملInfrarenal abdominal aorta approach through median minilaparotomy.
Classically, infrarenal aortic exposure is achieved by xyphopubic or xypho-infraumbilical laparotomy, in transperitoneal approach, or through a left abdominal incision, in retroperitoneal approach. The transperitoneal approach is associated with longer intestinal activity resumption time and incisional hernias on long term, due to intestinal extracavitary mobilization and long incision. These d...
